Many members within NE Tacoma have continued to work with Metro Parks on Parks Appreciation Day, held every year. This event brings awareness of the great need to improve our neightborhood parks. Over 150 volunteers showed up at Alderwood Park on April 22nd to help maintain trails, cut up trees toppled by last winters wind storms and pickup litter. | Alderwood Park surrounds Kobetich Library and the NE Tacoma Fire Station. The forested area west of the park and south of Browns Point Blvd is in private ownership and is not part of the park. The park consists of a trail system, a play ground and a small picnic area.
